LET'S GO TO THE BEACH !

     Thursday, January 6, 2005. Date to remember.

     It snowed a lot last night; therefore, I shoveled a lot of snow this
morning. It was high piled to my knees. There was sufficient to do the whole
snow man family. I felt good jealousy for the folks who are enjoying right
now the 75 F in Costa Rica. Oh boy! I remembered with nostalgia the nice
sunny days when we went to any beach to take a brake from the city.

     Here, I am suffering the common weather up North while my imagination
flies to Costa Rica and plans a trip to any beach at the Pacific like:
Jacob, Puntarenas, Dominical or Del Coco. Some ideas came to my mind...

     - Sometimes, we have relatives or friends who offer their hospitality
and live near or at the beach! If the budget needs scissors and I am
invited... well, take advantage of the offer.

     - Some of the unused money for hotel room can buy food or presents for
the owner of the house where I am going to stay. I have the preference to
bring what is hard to get in the zone.

     - The book that I never finish reading, the canvas stitch project, the
accumulated crossword puzzles or the activity (games) books are good
relaxing companion during the lazy hours at the beach or places around.

     - Everybody laughs about my portable first aid kit. You never know
when a medicine is required. That is why I always pack a few aspirins, Alka
Seltzers, Tabcins, band aids, Kleenex, cotton balls, a small alcohol bottle,
a water bottle, disposable glasses... Wouldn't you like to ravel with my
ambulant pharmacy?

     - Extra clothing just in case. That's other thing people makes fun of
me. They say it looks like I'm traveling in a cruise during three months and
not few days at the beach.

     - There are traditional games to play on the sand like hangman or tic
tac toe. Don't take the board with me and save room in the luggage. Just use
a stick to play on the sand. I can always erase the old game and start a new
one. What about to play checkers? Yes, with shelves; half up side down a few
to substitute the tokens.

     - Camera and some films to remember the nice trip.

     - Do not forget to take a daily vitamin 12 pill three days before to
go to the beach and every day at the beach to avoid mosquitoes bites.

     - A flash light just in case of a power failure and a radio to listen
to music and get the news in case the absent of electricity won't allow the
TV to work.

     The soup is boiling and I shall enjoy it soon to get warm after
shoveling snow. If you don't know the snow, don't worry. You have missed
some real cook, perhaps under zero temperature. Believe me, it is not nice
to go out home to shovel snow and get into the house with frozen tears.
