Grade 5 students spent 2 weeks in March traveling in their language groups. This is one of the most enriching experiences for Primary School students, and is the culmination of their last year before entering Middle School. This week, students from Grade 5 Spanish share memories of their trip.

We could see valleys. On the last Thursday my class and I went to the Rainforest. I saw a toucan, but when I was getting my camera it flew away! I swore I would never forget the way it looked! I will never forget how pretty it was. It looked big. Its beak was black around the edges, and yellow in the middle. The body feathers were black, and the tail feathers were red with yellow under the black feathers. The toucan was so unique that I had not seen one in my whole life. I saw a snake that is not poisonous. It was a yellowish color with black stripes. I wouldn’t mind having another exchange trip to somewhere just as pretty as Costa Rica! I would like to do it again sometime soon!!!

I think that I learned a lot in Costa Rica. I learned more Spanish, about different cultures, and how to be more independent. I think that Costa Rica was a great experience. I made new friends and saw many new things. Now I look back on the experience and wish I could do it again.

In Costa Rica we went to a lot of places. At first I was scared to go to Costa Rica, but when I went I was happy I did go. I really liked going to Volcano Arenal. We went to the hot water springs, and cold water springs. We hiked up the volcano as high as possible.

The trip to Costa Rica was so much fun. The things that I liked the most were when we went to the volcano and the rainforest. When we went to the rainforest, we saw monkeys and toucans. I think it was a good experience and I learned a lot of Spanish. We also went to some museums and they were fun. When I came back from the trip I realized that I learned a lot of new words. When the kids from Costa Rica come, I hope they have a good time. I really had a fun time and I hope they do too....

I really enjoyed the trip to Costa Rica, and I had a lot of fun. I also thought it was a great experience. Everything turned out great. I learned a lot more Spanish. My favorite things about Costa Rica were the rainforest and the volcano. The volcano was amazing. The toucan was beautiful. Everything was great. I wish I could go again.

El intercambio con el colegio Lincoln no fue solamente linguístico y cultural sino también preparación para su crecimiento personal. Se valoró la experiencia del intercambio para que los alumnos reforzaran el idioma y aprendieran a convivir con otras personas y conocer su cultura. Los alumnos del colegio Lincoln devolverán la visita el próximo 13 de mayo con 12 estudiantes y 2 profesoras.

Lo que escriben los alumnos sobre las memorias de su viaje:

La semana pasada fui a Costa Rica y visité muchos lugares diferentes . En la capital de Costa Rica, San José, hubo unas protestas de los precios de la energía. Visitamos el Museo de Oro, el Museo Nacional, el Museo del Niño, el Teatro Nacional, el Volcán Arenal y el Parque Braulio Carrillo. También fui a una escuela de agricultura que se llama INBIO. La experiencia con los niños fue excelente. Cuando nosotros estábamos en las casas de los niños conocí sus costumbres que son muy diferentes de los que nosotros tenemos aquí. Todo fue muy lindo allí en Costa Rica. Espero que los estudiantes de cuarto grado disfruten mucha de su viaje el año entrante.

Costa Rica fue una buena experiencia, fuimos a la escuela Lincoln, el Museo del Oro, y muchas otras partes como cuando fuimos al Volcán Arenal! Las aguas termales fueron divertidas, pero caminar por el volcán, fue lo mejor, había una vista lindísima que se veía del paisaje de Costa Rica! Había muchísimas rocas allí! Los Ticos tienen mucho más naturaleza, Atlanta es otra historia. Mi reflexión sobre Costa Rica es que yo recomiendo ir allí “Pura Vida!” Adiós!

Costa Rica tiene tanta biodiversidad que yo creo que hay casi la mitad de los especies del mundo que puedes encontrar allí. Fuimos a Costa Rica para aprender más el español. Tiene unas costumbres muy diferentes a nosotros, pero nuestro cultura probablemente les parece extraño a ellos. Costa Rica es un país muy lindo y divertido, y yo también recomiendo ir allí.

Mi viaje a Costa Rica fue muy divertido y una experiencia muy buena. Yo aprendí mucho sobre Costa Rica como: las tradiciones, las comidas típicas, la cultura y unos bailes folklóricos. Mi Español mejoró mucho y soy más independiente que antes. Yo tengo un vocabulario más extenso! Costa Rica fue una experiencia que nunca olvidaré!!

Costa Rica fue un país divino. El bosque lluvioso fue agraciado, verde y muchos animales viven allí. El Volcán Arenal fue bellísimo cuando salió el magma. Las aguas termales también fueron magníficas. San José fue muy interesante. Esos recuerdos serán muy buenas para mi vida. Fue un intercambio muy bueno!!!
